Academy of Tourism & Foreign Languages (ATFL) was instituted to cater to a demand in the tourism industry; for sound professionals in the industry. While the interest is high among many people to venture in to tourism; be a Travel consultant, owner of a Destination Management Company or be a tour guide, they lack proper hands-on training that gives them the confidence & edge to cater to a very demanding market. Effective communication skills and language proficiency is imperative.

Many of the traditional courses offered in this field, focus only on theory and book knowledge, and does not offer the practical knowledge, needed to become a seasoned professional. As a result, many tourists draw a poor perception of Sri Lanka, and loose confidence in the industry’s capacity

Secondly, ‘freelancing’ has become one of the most common and lucrative avenues, within the tourism industry. Many individuals, regardless of their background or exposure, are known to recognize themselves as tourism professionals. The ‘Academy of Tourism and Foreign Languages’ aims to address this gap, by providing such individuals with formal training and the basic skills needed to excel in this field.

This is why ATFL has also ventured in to Foreign Language teaching, as we believe language proficiency is a key component, which will give a clear edge over competition. ATFL has a variety of language courses, from basic to customized courses. ATFL is the pioneer to custom make language courses specifically for tourism.
